Pivot Point Consulting is at the Top of KLAS

Managing Partners Rachel Marano and Matt Simpson

The story starts with two employees, one client, one card and one dream — to be awarded Best in KLAS. The goal was ambitious for the start-up consulting firm, but the founders of the firm had plenty of ambition and the drive to match.

After a decade in healthcare IT consulting, Rachel Marano and her partner co-founded Pivot Point Consulting with a mission to provide unparalleled service, exceptional quality and outstanding value for healthcare clients. To kick start their new firm, Marano attended the annual HIMSS conference in 2011.

At the conference, she made her way to the KLAS booth and learned about KLAS Research, which awards the Best in KLAS title to a select group of vendor solutions that have the broadest operational and clinical impact on healthcare organizations. Best in KLAS is a recognition of outstanding efforts to help healthcare organizations in their quest to deliver quality patient care.

She took a KLAS information card from the booth and walked away with a singular goal: to become #1 Best in KLAS.

“I knew I wanted to build the best company I could and that it would be rooted in the values KLAS embodies.” Marano says, “The achievement required an absolute commitment to quality in every engagement.”

Pivot Point Consulting started in Marano’s Chicago apartment. From there and every office thereafter, the KLAS card was Marano’s “north star.” The card served as a reminder of the principles of the company she was determined to build. She remained laser-focused on her goal and uncompromising in her drive to achieve it. Managing Partners Rachel Marano and Matt Simpson

I put the card up on our office bulletin board to remind the team of the dream we were chasing … Of the type of company we set out to build,” says Marano.

Year over year Pivot Point Consulting climbed closer to the Best in KLAS goal  earning multiple KLAS recognitions along the way and growing into a company with 450 employees serving 85+ clients with advisory, implementation/optimization, health information management, managed services and talent solutions.

Under the leadership of Marano and fellow managing partner, Matt Simpson, the relentless pursuit of a dream was realized with the 2020 #1 Best in KLAS: Overall IT Services Firm award. “To be recognized as Best in KLAS means a lot to us,” says Simpson. “This award is a recognition of excellence directly from the feedback of those whom we serve. It’s a big milestone for our company, and its only the beginning. This award reaffirms we are still guided by the universal standards KLAS employs to evaluate and inform our industry.”

According to Adam Gale, President of KLAS, “Providers and payers demand better performance, usability and interoperability from their vendor partners every year. Best in KLAS winners set the standard of excellence in their market segment. Earning a Best in KLAS award should both excite and humble the recipients. It serves as a signal to providers that they should expect only the best from the winning vendors.

Now that Pivot Point Consulting has won the award, the firm will double down on the qualities that shaped it. Marano adds, “We are thrilled to be recognized for providing the highest quality relationships, reliability and results for our clients. By remaining singularly focused over the years, we have built commitment to quality into our DNA. It is not only our legacybut will remain our focus moving forward.
