Instructional Designer / Principal Trainer Development

The Instructional Designer / Principal Trainer role is one of the most difficult to navigate on any EHR project. We have developed multiple workshops to help ID/PTs manage their role responsibilities and deliverables. All workshops are accompanied by examples and takeaway tools.

Lesson Plan Development, 1-5 days

  • Review current state of lesson plans
  • Review best practices for adult learning in a technical setting, and how to adjust lesson plans accordingly (addressing the “what’s in it for me?” principle)
  • Practice and adjust overall classroom times based on actual materials
  • Accompanying tool review: workbooks, workflow guides, troubleshooting guides, tip sheets

Credentialed Trainer Program, 2 days

  • Create a Credentialed Training overview document and agreement for both internal and external CTs interested in joining the program
  • Review week-by-week plan to include lesson plan delivery, job shadowing, mock panel presentations, and more
  • Learn how to develop a CT proficiency exam geared toward your organization
  • Coaching and leadership
  • Tool development for CT success (ie, CT binders, online parking lot, schedule, etc.)
  • Train the Trainer: delivering “Art of the Super User” and adult learning principles to your CTs)

Transitioning from Implementation Training to New Hire Training, 1 day

  • Reducing overall classroom hours
  • Designing/adding role-based eLearning lessons
  • Utilizing preceptors to extend learning beyond the classroom
  • Cross training internal CTs to cover training class
  • Develop steady state new hire training schedule
