Pivot Point Consulting and San Francisco Community Health Center Partner to Deliver Better Care to Medically Underserved
New system helps providers offer more effective care to Homeless, LGBTQ+ Community.
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 2, 2022 – Pivot Point Consulting, a Vaco Company, and recognized 2022 #2 Best in KLAS: Overall IT Services Firm, today announced the full deployment of OCHIN’s Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system at San Francisco Community Health Center, a nonprofit with two clinics and a dozen providers dedicated to the integrated healthcare needs of underserved communities.
According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, San Francisco’s medically underserved Asian American and Pacific Islander community (MUAC) is the largest in the United States. Two San Francisco Health Center clinics specifically address the needs of this community as well as homeless and LGBTQ+ populations in San Francisco. These locations provide primary care, dental care, transgender health, HIV/STD testing, behavioral health and mobile healthcare on the street in the heart of the city, among additional services.
“By working with Pivot Point and OCHIN to deploy the Epic platform across our community-based health centers, our health system is now better equipped to meet the needs of the underserved populations in the city,” said Lance Toma, CEO of San Francisco Community Health Center. “In just a few months since we went live, we are already seeing tremendous benefits. This technology is enabling us to better track, report and engage with patients to deliver superior care to our community. Features like state-level reporting, collaboration with other Epic-based hospitals, support for our mobile care efforts and enhanced analytics capabilities are already making a difference in the lives of some of San Francisco’s most vulnerable patient populations.”
The OCHIN Epic EHR technology enables the two community clinics to access, organize, store and share electronic medical records with other local Epic hospital partners. Pivot Point Consulting brings expert strategy, resourcing and project management services to their OCHIN partnership and this EHR transformation initiative.
“By partnering with OCHIN and its members nationwide in the planning and implementation of the OCHIN Epic EHR platform, community health centers like San Francisco Health Center are able to harness the power of vital technology and deliver high-quality care to the communities they serve,” said Rachel Marano, Founder and Managing Partner at Pivot Point.
