The FCC has announced it has completed the incorporation of public comments on the application criteria and fund distribution which were solicited in January.

Although the details of the application criteria and fund distribution have not been released yet, here is what we know now:

4 Things The FCC Announced

  1. Applicants will be evaluated on a rating system which prioritizes agencies who serve low income areas, tribal communities, areas that were hardest hit, healthcare provider shortage areas and agencies who did not receive funding in round 1.
    • The rating system and criteria have yet to be defined.
  2. The application period will be open for a pre-determined amount of time with a set end date to allow for comprehensive review of all applications prior to awarding the funds.
    • This is a departure from round 1, which utilized a rolling application and distribution model.
  3. After the application period has ended, all applications will be reviewed, and the funds will be awarded in 2 phases.
    • If an application is declined in in phase 1, agencies will have an opportunity to provide additional information to then receive funding in phase 2.
  4. The funds will be distributed equitably across all 50 states and the District of Columbia to ensure that the funding impacts the widest number of Americans as possible.
