Rachel Marano, Managing Partner

Rachel Marano — Managing Partner 

Rachel Marano, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Pivot Point Consulting, has 17 years of consulting experience implementing and managing healthcare information technology projects. Rachel served as the Revenue Cycle & Ambulatory Director at Lancaster General Health as well as the Manager of Revenue Cycle at Stanford Hospital. Her primary responsibilities at both organizations were to manage, support, and direct the Epic implementation teams through all phases of their implementation. Rachel’s depth of experience with leading electronic health record (EHR) and revenue cycle projects, combined with her operational and change management skills, allow her to work in a variety venues and settings.

Rachel is a former employee of Cerner Corporation and is certified in several Epic software applications. Ms. Marano was on the Greater Chicago Chapter HIMSS board for eight years having held the positions of President, Communications Chair, and Member At Large. She held the role of Program Chair of the Indiana HIMSS board. Rachel has her Bachelors in Computer Science and is in the process of completing her Masters at Northwestern University.

Matt Simpson, Managing Partner

Matt Simpson — Managing Partner

After completing his Master’s degree at the University of Tennessee, Matt began his professional career as a business consultant with Andersen Consulting (Accenture). He collaborated with clients in the field of change management, including process design, organization design, training design and system usability. In 2000, Matt left Accenture to take a role as a Client Executive with IBM where he focused on developing IBM’s relationship with leading healthcare, insurance and entertainment companies in Nashville, TN.

He was responsible for IBM’s entire product portfolio including hardware, software, services and financing. In March of 2004, Matt joined Vaco to form Vaco’s technology practice. In 2014, Vaco created Vaco Healthcare, LLC where Matt assumed the role of Managing Partner.

Jon Melling, Partner

Jon Melling — Partner  

Jon is a management consultant with over 30 years’ experience working in health informatics in the United States and internationally. He also works with technology vendors looking to enter new markets or introduce new products into existing markets. Jon is a leading authority in planning for and implementing ICD-10, as well as health information exchange and interoperability strategy. His specialties include IT Strategies; Systems Procurement Including Negotiations; Program Management; Change Management; Vendor Business Planning and Marketing Strategies; and eHealth Strategies.

Mr. Melling is active in HIMSS. He is the Past Chair of the Health Business Solutions Committee, Member of the ICD-10 Task Force, and the Revenue Cycle Improvement Task Force. He is also Past President of the Arizona HIMSS Chapter and was awarded the 2011 HIMSS Chapter Leader of the Year.

Geoff Roten, Partner

Geoff Roten — Partner

Geoff brings 25 years of progressive experience in health IT to the new role. He has held technical leadership roles in for-profit and not-for-profit health institutions, government agencies and technology companies. Most recently he served as executive managing partner at North Star Technology Consulting. Prior to that, Geoff led IT initiatives as chief information officer at MEDHOST, a senior healthcare consultant at IBM and IT director in multiple provider organizations in the greater Nashville area.

 

Laura Kreofsky — Vice President, Advisory Services

Laura brings a wealth of expertise to Pivot Point Consulting’s Advisory Practice. Over the past 25 years she has planned and led advanced IT initiatives in the private and public sectors, at organizations including Kaiser Permanente, Stanford Healthcare, the Wisconsin Department of Health and MediClinic, South Africa. She also brings insight into emerging technologies and industry trends, having managed Impact Advisors’ research team, as well as client programs for population health and telemedicine.

 

Janice Wurz — Vice President, Advisory Services

Janice comes to Pivot Point with more than 25 years of healthcare experience in IT, Strategy, and Leadership development, having worked for organizations like Advocate Health Care, Provena Health and, most recently, Impact Advisors. She also served as president for the HIMSS Greater Illinois Chapter. Her areas of expertise include analytics and data governance, IT strategic planning, digital health and leveraging health IT to improve the patient experience.

 

Darin Ryder, Consultant Services Manager

Darin Ryder — Director, Consultant Services & Operations

Darin has 23 years of healthcare IT implementation, project management, resource management and clinical operations leadership experience. Darin provides oversight of Pivot Point’s Consulting Services division, and possesses a lengthy and successful track record for delivering quality HIT solutions and resources for healthcare organizations from small community hospitals to large multi-facility academic institutions. Darin possesses a degree in Medical Technology and currently completing a degree in Health Care Organizational Management.

Zachary Tisch — Sr. Director, Strategic Implementation

Zack is a dynamic healthcare IT executive leader with twelve years experience in leading complex, integrated Electronic Medical Records implementations at notable institutions such as Cedars-Sinai, MD Anderson Cancer Center, UCLA Health, University of Arizona Health Network, and Catholic Healthcare Partners.

Zack is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and is certified in 15 Epic applications. He also founded Epic’s Long Term Support Workgroup and is passionate about continuing to extract value out of the EMR system to provide efficient, effective, and safe care.

Dena Campbell, Strategy & Advisory Executive

Dena Campbell — Strategy & Advisory Executive

Dena has extensive experience working with healthcare providers to define requirements and implement technology solutions within hospital settings. She has been involved with the implementation of electronic medical records, having provided implementation coordination, system design, support, testing, training and curriculum development for multiple Epic sites.
